Sleeve Gastrectomy

The Sleeve Gastrectomy, sometimes called the "gastric sleeve'" is a relatively new operation. It is a restrictive procedure which reduces the volume of the stomach by creating a small capacity "sleeve".

The Sleeve Gastrectomy is done with keyhole surgery and the stomach is restricted by dividing it vertically and removing more than 85% of it. As a result, patients feel full after a very small amount of food, and therefore lose weight because they eat less.
